The Problems with Starting and Marketing Online Business

Guess what is the biggest stumbling block when it comes to starting and/or marketing a business on the Internet?

If you answered “not sure where and how to start,” or something alike, then you’re right.

There are a few problems that roll from that point:

  1. Even for those who have been on the Internet for years, it is still a concept, skill or collection of knowledge not automatically revealed and made sense for them.
  2. It takes a lot of planning to build a solid foundation before a business could be in profit, or the business will be a waste of time. The same case applies to marketing, campaigns and efforts flop frequently.
  3. There lacks of a system that allows anyone to follow the step-by-step instructions and get results.
  4. Even if there is one, usually the system is too vague and lack of details. There are only few that will stay motivated in the process. People still must figure out a lot of details.
  5. Most of us don’t have a lot of money to waste in this venture. Internet business doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Anyone can start on a shoestring, especially if they are willing to trade a little time for the initial investment.
  6. The technical barriers to entry is too huge. Let’s admit it, the Internet is still a jungle for average people. This type of problem surfaces every now and then.

We haven’t touched a bit about motivation, how to manifest success, or self-sabotage, and so on — which are of course irrelevant to this blog. The list above is actually just general summary of the issues most business owners and marketers face everyday.

So, I hope by now you can imagine the path you are going to take to reach success. As with every business, it takes a lot of work and knowledge about how things work on the Internet.

There are some skills that are necessary and apply to most, if not all, online businesses. This is the beauty of it. Although we can’t run a business with a few clicks of a mouse, still there are parts that can be automated.

A lot of marketing activities work for any business. All you need to do is understand how they work, and then integrate them as part of your existing business.

Because of the nature of the Internet, there are a few popular and really huge ways to reach your audience and prospects, no matter in which niche market you are.

This site and its sister blogs are here to help you revealing them.

I hope you enjoy the stay.

The best advice for those starting out is to begin with a target market or ‘niche’ in mind.

When you start focusing on a segment, you can then discover what problems that segment deals with. Then, you provide a solution and VIOLA! The only remaining task is to communicate that solution to that niche market.
